Truth is, not all appliance issues can be avoided, but knowing proper care and maintenance can certainly help extend their lifetime and keep them functioning at their best. Take care of your washing machines by following these maintenance tips:

More laundry means more loads

We know how busy life can get, but your washing machine has less sympathy. Overloading it can cause a range of issues, from not fully cleaning the load to throwing the machine off balance. Buying an extra pair of socks, instead of throwing them all into an already overloaded machine, might save you money in the long run! Each machine is different, so check your manufacturer’s guidelines for the appropriate load size.

Level headed people keep their washers level

You can reduce vibration, noise, and potential damage to the machine by ensuring it is level. The closer to the floor the less vibration you will experience. Most units have adjustable legs that can be changed depending on individual needs. Remember, safety first! Bubbles are fun, but not when they’re pouring out of your washer

Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for detergent, as they may differ from what the detergent packaging suggests. Less soap should be used if your water is soft. High efficiency appliances also have different requirements. Generally, a small layer of suds during the wash that does not persist past the rinse cycle is a good sign. Clean washer, clean clothes. In addition, ensure that the detergent and fabric softener dispensers are clean. You can use a cloth and some hot water to get any sticky residue removed.
